On October 20, 2026, the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church hosted a meeting of the Inter-Council Presence Commission on public life, culture, science and Information. The meeting in the face-to-face and remote format was led by the chairman of the commission, Metropolitan Clement of Kaluga and Borovsk.
In his opening remarks, His Eminence drew attention to the impact of modern technologies on the life of society. He stressed that "a person's personality is the image of God, not a collection of data," and technology should serve a person, not dominate him.
One of the central topics of the meeting was the preparation of a document on artificial intelligence and other challenges of scientific and technological development to the Christian worldview. The secretary of the profile working group, Priest Alexander Volkov, presented the structure of the document and commented on the contents of its chapters.
The participants also reviewed the progress of work on the topics of the unity of the peoples of historical Russia, the preservation of spiritual and cultural identity in the context of globalization, Christian ethics and social justice. In the latter direction, the members of the commission were asked to prepare brief responses to the draft document sent earlier.
Special attention was paid to the cooperation between the Church and cinema in the field of protection of traditional values. It was decided to outline the main provisions of the speech by the head of the working group, N.P. Burlyaev, in writing and send them to the members of the commission for collective discussion.
