On September 23, 2026, the Tolyatti Museum of Local Lore hosted a round table "Unity in Diversity: the historical path of the baptized Kalmyks of Stavropol", organized as part of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
The event was attended by Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia and Bishop Nestor of Tolyatti and Zhiguli, clergymen, representatives of the Tolyatti administration, historians, ethnographers, local historians, museum workers, archive staff, teachers and students of historical and pedagogical profile. Some of the specialists joined the work in the videoconference format from Astrakhan and Kalmykia.
The round table was dedicated to one of the important pages of the common history of the Samara Region and Kalmykia — the history of the baptism of the Kalmyks, the founding of Stavropol and the further participation of representatives of the Kalmyk people in the life of the Russian state. Special attention was paid to the Orthodox component of this story, the preservation of historical memory and how the experience of living together and serving the Fatherland of representatives of different nations contributes to strengthening the unity of the state.
After the round table, the guests were given a guided tour of the permanent historical exhibition "Stavropol Provincial".
