On October 15, 2026, the opening of a scientific conference with international participation "Topical issues of the development of academic Islamic Theology in Russia and the CIS countries" took place at the Bulgarian Islamic Academy in Tatarstan.
The event was organized by the Bulgarian Islamic Academy with the assistance of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education. The scientific forum brought together representatives of religious organizations, theological educational institutions and the scientific community of Russia and foreign countries.
The main topics of discussion were the development of academic Islamic theology, the interaction of religious education and modern science, the preservation of theological heritage, as well as the role of traditional spiritual and moral values in the life of society.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, Hieromonk Gregory (Matrusov), head of the DECR Expert Council for Cooperation with the Islamic World, attended the conference and addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
