The first monograph in the history of Russia on the Christian foundations of Russian law has been published. The publication is edited by Priest Vasily Losev, lecturer at the Department of Church History and Church Law at the Cyril and Methodius Ecclesiastical Postgraduate and Doctoral School, head of the Legal Service of the Moscow Archdiocese, and Professor Yuri Svirin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Honorary Lawyer of Russia.
The monograph outlines the relationship between Christian norms and positive Russian law, conducts scientific research and evaluates the impact of canonical norms on various branches of current Russian law. In addition, for the first time, the problems of structuring the sources of dogmatic law and codification of the canonical law of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as how the sources of canonical and secular law relate to each other, are revealed. A separate object of the study was the legal status of the priest and the place of the church court in the system of jurisdictional bodies.
The publication is intended for lawyers (scientists and practitioners), teachers, students, undergraduates and postgraduates of law schools and faculties, higher theological educational institutions and clergy.
