On January 12, 2025, His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, delivered a heartfelt message to the faithful in Syria and Lebanon during the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Cross in Damascus. His address, reported by the Patriarchate's press office, emphasized the shared commitment of Christians and Muslims to a united Syria founded on constitutional principles, free from ethnic and religious divisions.  

Patriarch John congratulated the Lebanese people on the election of their new president, Joseph Aoun, describing this milestone as a pivotal step towards overcoming the "deadlocks of the past." He extended his best wishes for President Aoun’s success in rebuilding the country, recovering stolen funds, and addressing ongoing crises.  

The Patriarch underscored that true revolution begins within the human soul, through the awakening of light, the restoration of dignity, and the fight against injustice. He explained that personal transformation lays the foundation for societal renewal, enabling the creation of a state based on equality, freedom, and respect for individual rights.  

Addressing the situation in Syria, Patriarch John called on all citizens to unite in building a future where the nation’s diversity becomes a source of strength. He stressed the importance of collaboration between Christians and Muslims in constructing a just and free Syria, rooted in the respect for human dignity.  

In his concluding remarks, the Patriarch offered blessings and encouragement to the faithful of the Antiochian Orthodox Church. Despite numerous challenges, the Church remains a steadfast witness to light and truth, he affirmed.  

Patriarch John X concluded his message with the words of the Apostle Paul: "Rejoice in the Lord always… And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds."
