Hieromonk Alexander (Valkov), dean of churches in the Chernushinsky district of the Perm Diocese, arrived in Oktyabrsky on July 23 to transfer humanitarian supplies and provide assistance to victims of the devastating flood.
During the trip, the clergyman held a working meeting with the head of the Oktyabrsky Municipal District administration, Georgy Vasilyevich Poezhaev. The parties discussed the current situation in the settlements, the scale of damage caused by the disaster and the primary needs of local residents.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to coordinating the joint actions of the Church and local governments to eliminate the consequences of the emergency and support the victims.
Father Alexander visited the local church of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
During the visit, humanitarian cargo was also handed over, which was promptly collected by volunteers and caring parishioners of the Chernushinsky deanery.
Basic necessities, including bottled drinking water, long-term food, personal hygiene products, bedding and clothing, were given to the affected families.
The transferred items, with the assistance of the local parish, will be distributed among the residents of the district, whose houses and household farms were in the flood zone.
