At the invitation of the Cultural Representation at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishop Savvati of Bishkek and Kyrgyzstan arrived in Iran to participate in official mourning events dedicated to the memory of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In the official invitation, the Iranian side emphasized that the presence of representatives of traditional religions is an important symbol of interreligious respect, spiritual solidarity and the desire to strengthen mutual understanding between peoples.
Large-scale commemorative events are taking place in Tehran from July 3-9 and have brought together representatives of government, public and religious organizations from many countries around the world. The funeral ceremonies are attended by foreign delegations, representatives of the clergy and officials from various countries.
Bishop Savvati represents the Bishkek and Kyrgyz dioceses, the Russian Orthodox Church and the people of Kyrgyzstan at the events.
On behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church and the people of Kyrgyzstan, His Eminence expressed condolences over the death of the Supreme Leader of Iran.
"The delegation from the Russian Orthodox Church and the people of Kyrgyzstan expressed their condolences over the martyrdom of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei," the archpastor said.
The program of mourning events will last until July 9th. During these days, Vladyka Savvati will continue to participate in commemorative ceremonies and meetings held as part of official events of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
