Russian Russian President Vladimir Putin's Decree No. 488 dated July 13, 2026, the head of the Metropolitan District of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Kazakhstan, permanent member of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
As noted in the document published on the portal of legal acts, Metropolitan Alexander was awarded a high state award "for his contribution to the preservation and development of spiritual and moral traditions, long-term charitable and social activities."
