Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, Chairman of the Patriarchal Council for Culture, and Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, presented a new class format from the "Conversations about Important Things" series. The event took place on September 30, 2026 at the site of the National Center "Russia" in Moscow as part of the Forum of Classroom Teachers.
"When our President decided in 2020 that education should return to schools, the question arose of how to organize all the work. Today, the institute of educational advisors has been established, every school and college has an educational work program, a branch of the Movement of the First, a flag-raising ceremony and the National Anthem are performed at the beginning of each school week, and "Talking about Important things" lessons are held. And we see the result of this work. We are very grateful to you, colleagues, for supporting the values and shaping the worldview of the younger generation. But it's difficult without examples that the guys will be guided by. I think each of you has watched a particular movie and each has people you look up to and examples you admire. There are many of them, and our students should be aware of this. Therefore, at the initiative of Vladyka Tikhon, videos dedicated to outstanding personalities and heroes of our country are included in the lesson program from the "Conversations about important things" cycle. This is a very important job, the necessity of which is beyond any doubt," said Sergey Kravtsov.
The videos are included in the curriculum for students in grades 6-11 and 1st year students of secondary vocational education institutions. The new format is aimed at deep work on the education of moral qualities, allowing children to see the connection between the history of the country, values and human actions.
A total of 28 unique topics are planned for the academic year based on the life and work of famous scientists, inventors, generals, rulers, doctors and patrons of the arts. The Foundation for Humanitarian Projects is engaged in the production of commercials for "Conversations about important Things" on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
According to the minister, the prepared video materials will also be used in conducting lessons on the subject of "Spiritual and moral culture of Russia", which is aimed at the formation of traditional universal values based on the examples of the lives of outstanding personalities and heroes of the Fatherland.
Metropolitan Tikhon stressed the importance of how to talk about heroes and traditional Russian values in order to interest schoolchildren.
"Heroes are the bearers of those eternal values that we so often talk about. But heroes are still more than just carriers. It is they who are entrusted with an impossible task for others — the effective transmission of these values from generation to generation, from heart to heart. This high national mission of the heroes is to continue their service even many decades and centuries after their death. People, by and large, rarely formulate their national idea, but they accurately identify its bearers," said Bishop Tikhon.
During the event, the audience was presented with a video dedicated to the feat and courage of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky. Using the example of the heroes of the people's militia of 1612, true leadership is revealed as the ability to unite people, put the common good above personal glory and be responsible for decisions made.
For the first time, two large—scale educational projects have been combined at the Rossiya National Center - a Forum for Classroom Teachers and a Forum for School Principals. They are conducted on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation with the support of the Ministry of Education of Russia. The operator is the Foundation for Humanitarian Projects.
