The unique interregional exhibition "Military Clergy", organized with the participation of the Union of Artists of Russia and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Izhevsk Diocese, has completed its work in Izhevsk.
The exhibition has become an important phenomenon in contemporary art: for the first time, dozens of paintings and graphic works from Russia and Belarus devoted exclusively to military pastoral ministry were collected in one space.
The artists focus on the faces of military priests. The paintings depict portraits of Archpriest Dimitri Vasilenkov, Archpriest Svyatoslav Churkanov, Archpriest Andrey Kanev, Archpriest Oleg Teor and other pastors who minister to the Russian army. With special trepidation, the authors approached the creation of portraits of those who gave their lives in the line of duty in the SVR zone — Archpriest Mikhail Vasiliev, Archpriest Oleg Artemov, Priest Alexander Tsyganov, Priest Anthony Savchenko.
The depiction of images of military priests in paintings is a visible evidence that the sacrificial work of pastors on the front line finds a deep response in the hearts of people and becomes part of the cultural chronicle of our time.
Despite the closure of the physical exhibition, everyone can touch this large-scale project. The organizers have created a virtual format for the exhibition: the paintings are presented in high resolution, and many of the works are accompanied by a detailed audio guide.
