Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus has sent a congratulatory message to Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East on the anniversary of his enthronement, according to the Communication Service of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.

In his message, Patriarch Kirill praised the ministry of the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, highlighting his pastoral care and dedication to the faithful amid the challenging conditions facing the Middle East. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church wished Patriarch John X peace, good health, and God’s assistance in his continued service.

Patriarch John X has led the Antiochian Orthodox Church since February 2013. The Church unites Orthodox Christians in Syria, Lebanon, and several other countries in the region and is regarded as one of the oldest Christian churches in the world, tracing its history back to the time of the first apostles.

The current Patriarch was born in Latakia, Syria, and received both secular and theological education, including studies in Lebanon and Greece. Prior to his election as Patriarch, he held various church positions, taught theology, and led major monasteries and theological institutions.

Patriarch John X is widely known for his commitment to inter-Christian dialogue and for his consistent stance in defense of the Christian presence in the Middle East. In his public statements, he has repeatedly emphasized that Christian communities are an integral part of the region’s history and culture and have no intention of leaving, despite ongoing armed conflicts and political instability.
