The Way of the Mother of God procession took place from June 30 to July 9 at the sites of the appearance of the miraculous Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God. About a hundred people from different regions took part in it, the youngest participant was barely three years old, the oldest was 85 years old. It is in its eleventh year, and the cultural program is provided by the All-Russian Festival of Orthodox Singing Traditions and Bell Ringing "Istoki".
The confessor of the procession is its founder and ideological inspirer, Archpriest Sergiy Filonov, rector of the Church of Righteous Job the Long-Suffering in Tikhvin. One of the important components of the "Way of the Virgin" procession is the daily service of the Divine Liturgy.
It follows from the "Tales of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God" that the appearance of the image in the Novgorod region took place "luminously walking through the air" from one village to another, "invisibly carried by angels." The icon appeared seven times in several places until it reached the shore of the Tikhvinka River. She appeared on Lake Ladoga, in the churchyards of Smolkovo on the Oyat River in Imochenitsy, then "on Kozhel on Kookova Mountain," on the mountain above Tikhvinka, and finally on the other side of the same river.

On July 2, the Crusaders came to the Vvedeno-Oyatsky Monastery, where a concert "Bells over Oyat" was held in memory of the outstanding campanologist Sergei Starostenkov - this year marked the 5th anniversary of his death. Bell ringing masters from St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Murmansk regions gathered in Oyat. 
The next day, a crossing was made to the Nikolsky skete of the Vvedeno-Oyat monastery. The next morning, the crusaders prayed in the church of St. Basil the Great on Akulovaya Gora, where festive bells rang, and marched to Imochenitsy, then to Smolkova Gora. Through the efforts of the admirers of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, crosses of worship were erected there in memory of her appearance.
Then the procession visited the Pokrov-Tervenichesky Monastery, the ruins of the Tikhvin temple in the village of Novinka and the Ilyinsky Chapel in the village of Yeremina Gora. In the morning we reached the Church of the Three Saints in Kapetsky churchyard, where the Divine Liturgy was served - divine services are held in this inaccessible place infrequently, and from spring to autumn it is impossible to get here by car.
From the Transfiguration Chapel in the village of Dubrovo, the crusaders reached Kukovaya Gora, where a temple is being built through the efforts of Archpriest Maxim Konstantinov, rector of the Church of the Intercession in the neighboring village of Gorka.
One of the most important places to visit is the Antonievo-Dymsky Monastery. The memory of the monk is celebrated on July 7, and the crusaders invariably, together with the ruling bishop, Bishop Mstislav of Tikhvin and Lodeynopol, pray on this day in the church where his relics rest, participate in the procession to Dymskoye Lake and the water prayer service. After the prayer service, the Tikhvin Blagovest Festival of sacred music is held.
On the eve of the holiday, on July 8, a znamenny chant service and a bell concert were held in the church of St. Job the Long-Suffering. 
On July 9, the feast of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, the procession entered the Tikhvin Dormition Monastery. An akathist chant was performed before the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, followed by prayers for the Divine Liturgy, which was led by Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, co-served by Bishops Veniamin of Kronstadt, Mstislav of Tikhvin and Lodeynopol, Mitrofan of Gatchina and Luga, and Siluan of Peterhof.
The procession attracts the attention of the public and local residents, with whom conversations are held about the Tikhvin Icon and about church life. They have the opportunity to participate in divine services, confess and receive communion.
