All textbooks published on the social and humanitarian cycle are reviewed by the relevant Synodal Department of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. This was stated by the country's Education Minister Andrei Ivanets at the seminar "The State and the Church" in Zhirovichi, BelTA has learned.
This process is one of the directions of the program for the joint work of the BOC and the education system for 2020-2025.
In addition to reviewing manuals, the church participates in the preparation of elective classes for students in grades 5-9 on the basics of spiritual and moral culture and patriotism.
According to the minister, every second school has such an elective, and more than 25,000 students attend it on a voluntary basis.
"The spiritual, moral and patriotic education of young people has always been and remains one of the key tasks of the education system. The education system has extensive experience in cooperation with the Belarusian Orthodox Church," Ivanets said.
