Orthodox Christian communities across Albania marked the feast day of Saint Marina with solemn liturgical celebrations, drawing clergy and hundreds of faithful to churches dedicated to the revered martyr. The main commemorations took place in several dioceses throughout the country, according to Radio Njallja.

The largest celebrations were held in southern Albania, where Metropolitan Nathanael of Gjirokastër presided over multiple services in honor of the saint. On the eve of the feast, he officiated the reopening of the Church of Saint Marina in the village of Lugar following its restoration, marking the resumption of regular liturgical life at the historic church. Morning prayers and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated there with the participation of local residents and pilgrims.

In his homily, Metropolitan Nathanael emphasized that the witness of Saint Marina remains relevant for Christians today. He encouraged believers to maintain a living faith, actively participate in the life of the Church, and bear witness to their convictions in everyday life. Describing the saint as a model of courage, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to Christ, he urged the faithful to remain steadfast in the face of life's trials.

Saint Marina, known in the Western Christian tradition as Saint Margaret of Antioch, lived in the third century in Pisidian Antioch and was martyred during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Diocletian. According to Christian tradition, the young woman refused to renounce her faith despite torture and the threat of death. She was ultimately beheaded for her confession of Christ and later became one of the most venerated female martyrs of the Eastern Church. In Orthodox tradition, Saint Marina is especially honored as a patroness of those seeking spiritual strength, courage, and perseverance in times of hardship.

Feast-day services were also celebrated in other parts of Albania. Metropolitan Anastasios of Korçë celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the historic Church of Saint Marina in the village of Lenga near Pogradec, while Metropolitan Nicholas of Apollonia and Fier presided over services at a recently built chapel dedicated to the saint in the village of Hasturkas. Following the liturgy, he thanked everyone who had contributed to the chapel's construction and beautification.

One of the most distinctive celebrations took place at the ancient Church of Saint Marina within the historic Berat Castle. The open-air sanctuary, whose altar is built into the medieval fortress walls, once again welcomed large numbers of worshippers and pilgrims, serving as one of the spiritual focal points of the nationwide feast.
