On the eve of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, on July 7, 2026, a procession "For the Preservation of Family Values" was held in the Novobelitsky district of Gomel, dedicated to the memorial day of the Holy Saints Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom.
The prayer procession was led by Archbishop Stefan of Gomel and Zhlobin. Together with the archpastor, the clergy of the Gomel diocese, parishioners of city churches, families with children, youth, representatives of labor collectives, public organizations, law enforcement agencies and departments marched in a procession. In total, more than 1,200 people took part in the march.
The procession began at the church of St. Alexander Nevsky on Ilyich Street. Carrying icons, banners and prayer hymns, the participants marched along Dubravny Passage to the Church of the Holy Saints Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom on Dubravnaya Street.
The Holy Saints Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia are revered in the Orthodox Church as patrons of Christian marriage and family. Their lives testify to marital fidelity, mutual love, patience and willingness to overcome life's challenges together.
Families with children occupied a special place among the participants of the procession. Representatives of different generations united in common prayer, testifying to the importance of family continuity, the responsibility of parents for raising children and preserving traditional spiritual and moral values.
The procession "For the Preservation of Family Values" has been held in Gomel since 2023. The procession ended at the church of the Holy Saints Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom with a common prayer for peace and harmony in families, strengthening marriage unions and the well-being of children and parents.
