On the day of the glorification of St. Innocent, Metropolitan of Moscow, on October 6, 2026, the missionary procession with the honorable head of St. Innocent of Moscow, enlightener of Siberia and America, which lasted for two years, ended at the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
The offering of the shrine was organized by the Synodal Missionary Department and the Orthodox Missionary Society operating under it in the name of St. Innocent of Moscow with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
The missionary campaign was called "The Second Missionary Journey of St. Innocent of Moscow." Its beginning was timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the future saint at the place of his first missionary service in 1824.
Before the departure of the shrine, on September 6, 2024, in the church of St. Nicholas of Myra in Novaya Sloboda in Moscow, at the Synodal Missionary Department, a prayer service with an akathist was performed to St. Innocent of Moscow in front of his honorable head.
In two years, the shrine was brought to the dioceses of Siberia, Transbaikalia and the Far East. The ark with the saint's honest head visited the Irkutsk region, Khakassia, Tuva, Kuzbass, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions, Altai Territory, Yakutia, Magadan Region, Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories, Amur Region, Transbaikalia and Buryatia. Among the places where the shrine was located were Irkutsk, Kyzyl, Novosibirsk, Iskitim, Omsk, Barnaul, Yakutsk, Magadan, Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Vanino, Vladivostok, Arsenyev, Chita and Ulan-Ude, as well as small towns, towns and remote settlements.
So, in March 2026, the honest head of the saint was brought from Magadan to Khabarovsk, after which she continued her journey through the dioceses of the Amur archdiocese. In summer, the shrine was celebrated in Primorye and Transbaikalia, and in September — in Buryatia. In total, the missionary procession covered 38 dioceses of Siberia and the Far East, including the places of apostolic labors of St. Innocent.
The shrine's stay was accompanied by Divine Liturgies, prayer services and processions, as well as educational and missionary events. Exhibitions, conferences, and meetings with schoolchildren, students, military personnel, and residents of remote settlements were held in dioceses. The missionaries talked about the life and apostolic labors of the saint, showed documentaries and distributed his work "Pointing the Way to the Kingdom of Heaven."
On October 4, the venerable head of St. Innocent of Moscow was solemnly brought to the Church of St. Nicholas of Myra in Novaya Sloboda. After the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and faithful were able to worship at the shrine. On October 5, on the eve of the day of the church glorification of St. Innocent of Moscow, the shrine was brought to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
