The Training Center of the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, organized a training course in first aid with elements of tactical medicine in Kursk. The first 32 students were volunteers who are engaged in evacuating civilians in case of missile danger, transporting the wounded and helping in hospitals. The training is supported by the Kursk Diocese.
"Volunteers, both Orthodox and from various public organizations, are actively helping the victims in the border areas of the Kursk Region. They take civilians out of the border areas, work in temporary accommodation and hospitals. It is unnecessary to explain that their activities are fraught with high danger to life. Therefore, knowledge and skills of providing assistance in emergency situations are vital for them," said Alexey Zarov, chief physician and director of St. Alexy's Hospital.
During two days of training, the students mastered the algorithm of assistance and self-help in emergency situations. They learned how to apply tourniquets and pressure bandages to stop bleeding, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and evacuate from a dangerous area. Much attention was paid to the course to ensure their own safety in providing first aid to the victim. The teachers of the St. Alexius Hospital Training Center used various technologies that helped to develop skills in extreme situations. A separate section of the program is dedicated to the ability to work in a team, which helps to organize assistance more effectively.
Since August 16, volunteers, sisters of mercy of St. Alexy's Hospital, have been traveling to the Kursk Regional Hospital on shifts. They take care of the wounded and seriously ill. Volunteers and employees of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service also help in three temporary accommodation facilities and a hospital in the Kursk region.
