With the blessing of Metropolitan Theodosius of Tambov and Rasskazovsky, the clergy of the Tambov diocese responded to the terrible disaster and provides spiritual and moral support to the affected people. Each family has a priest assigned to them, who will take over the pastoral care of the suffering people.
The head of the Tambov Archdiocese expresses his deep condolences to the families of the victims and sincerely sympathizes with all the victims. Metropolitan Theodosius condemned the inhuman atrocity and said that it was a terrible crime and a terrorist act committed by the Ukrainian regime against a civilian facility, as a result of which innocent, peaceful people were killed and injured.
The Tambov clergy, along with doctors and specialists working at the scene of the tragedy, the head of the region, Evgeny Alekseevich Pervyshov, and the head of the city of Kotovsk, Alexei Mikhailovich Plakhotnikov, provide assistance to all the victims and pray for the repose of all the dead.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
