In the village of Ngozi, located in the Mwumba district on Gitasi Hill in northern Burundi, on June 27, 2026, 21 people joined the Russian Orthodox Church. The catechumens came from other Christian denominations.
The sacrament of Baptism was performed by the dean of parishes in Burundi, Priest Dimitri Ntahonshikieh, co-served by Deacon Thomas Nisengwe.
After that, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the community for the first time, during which the newly baptized partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
Another local resident in the Orthodox community in the capital of Burundi was also accepted into the Orthodox Church. The rite of joining was performed by Priest Nikolai Bigirimana.
