On July 19, the Divine Liturgy was held in the church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Zaraysk for the first time in almost a century of silence. The divine service was performed by the dean of the 2nd Zaraisk deanery district, rector of the temple, Priest Roman Kudelin and the dean of the 1st Zaraisk deanery district, Archpriest Peter Spiridonov. Many parishioners came to the first liturgy.
The church was built in 1776-1788 in the Baroque style on the site of a burnt-out wooden church. In 1808, a refectory with two side chapels, Nikolsky and Uspensky, was added in the classical style. During the Soviet years, the temple was closed, and a museum has been located here since 1936. It was only in 2014 that the building was returned to the church, but there were no regular services. On July 10, 2026, by decree of Metropolitan Pavel of Krutitsky and Kolomna, the Trinity Church became an independent parish, as well as the main church of the 2nd Zaraisk deanery district.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
