On July 16, another patriotic action "Gift to the Defender of the Fatherland" was held in the Nizhny Novgorod military hospital. Gift sets for military personnel undergoing treatment were prepared by activists of the Orthodox youth movement "Peter and Fevronia" of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese's Nagorny Deanery under the leadership of curator Daria Koroleva.
With the blessing of Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, gifts are given monthly to the participants of the special military operation who are being treated at this hospital. The medical institution includes a multifunctional medical center named after the holy righteous passion-bearer doctor Evgeny (Botkin).
The boys and girls packed more than 80 packages of personal hygiene products in the hospital's warehouse. As a result, 210 gift sets were prepared, which are scheduled to be presented to the military personnel on July 20.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
